The Internet of Things will face the explosive growth period and the transition period

The 2016 World Internet of Things Expo (hereinafter referred to as the “Material Fair”) ended in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. Authorities of the participating experts and relevant government departments believe that after the development of the previous period, the Internet of Things has ushered in multiple opportunities and is expected to usher in an explosive growth period.

IoT development welcomes multiple opportunities

"Since this year, there have been several new developments in the development of the Internet of Things, which will bring new opportunities." At the fourth meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Construction Coordination Group of the Wuxi National Sensor Network Innovation Demonstration Zone, the Chinese Academy of Engineering academician He Hezhen said.

The first is the birth of the international narrowband Internet of Things standard. According to He Hezhen, the development of the Internet of Things in the past is more difficult. The reason is that more than 60% of low-rate sensor applications do not have suitable transmission means. The wifi and Bluetooth connections are unreliable, and the transmission distance is short and the coverage is narrow. It is not economical to use optical fiber and mobile communication. In June of this year, the narrowband Internet of Things standard nbiot was passed in Busan, South Korea, which resolved this bottleneck.

Hehe further explained that this narrow-band Internet of Things has four major characteristics: First, wide coverage, coverage is 100 times better than current mobile communication, penetration is strong, can cover underground garages; second is large connection, one mobile communication The cellular sector is 50 times to 100 times more than the number of terminals supported by traditional mobile communications; the third is low power consumption, one battery can make the IoT module work for ten years; the fourth is low cost, the chip cost target is reduced to 1 dollar .

Secondly, the 5G era is accelerating. The Internet of Things requires a narrowband network and a high-speed network. During the expo, many academicians mentioned that in the next two to three years, 5G technology will gradually mature and put into trial operation. The 5G design can support one million IoT terminals per square kilometer, which will greatly expand the application of the Internet of Things and promote the deep integration of the Internet of Things and the mobile Internet.

At this event, China Mobile has compared the smart driving technology of the 5G era with the 4G era. The reporter saw at the scene that under 4G conditions, the driving speed of the unmanned vehicle was slow, and the brakes and the two intersections reflected a long time. Under the condition of 5G, the speed of the vehicle was obviously improved, and the brakes were faster and more sensitive. The speed of the network is closely related to the safety factor of driverless driving.

Once again, the Internet of Things began to enter the enterprise-based application era. "The Internet of Things is not the future, but the reality." Liu Jingan said, "Many big companies are now entering the Internet of Things, such as Samsung. From next year, all their electronic devices will become devices on the Internet of Things."

He He said that many large enterprises at home and abroad have made the Internet of Things a new business growth point. In foreign countries, Google acquired a smoke sensor enterprise for 3.2 billion US dollars, and entered the Internet of Things with high-profile. In China, Huawei, ZTE, China Electronics, Lenovo, Digital China and the three major telecom operators will all use Internet of Things technology. The basic smart city is the main strategic direction of the group.

In addition, the rapid development of the Internet of Vehicles is expected to drive the development of the Internet of Things. Hehe said that the car itself is the node of the Internet of Things, and the Internet of Things is redefining the car. A good car will have hundreds of sensors. Autonomous vehicles are a concentrated expression of the convergence of the Internet of Things, mobile Internet, cloud computing and big data technologies with advanced automotive technologies. The current hot car network is developing rapidly and is expected to bring animal network development.

Manufacturing transformation requires IoT embedding

"The Internet of Things will bring more extensive and profound influence to human production and life with its subversive changes and comprehensive infiltration. It will implant new genes into economic development and provide new means for social governance; it will give people food, shelter, education and even education. Medical care brings great convenience, and it also brings subversive innovation to manufacturing, marketing services, and business models. It brings structural time and space reshaping to everything in the physical world, and brings people's ideas, thinking, and behaviors. Come to profound change."

During the World Internet of Things Expo, the World Property Network Wuxi Summit was held at the same time. During the keynote speech at the summit, Li Qianru, secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, explained his understanding of the Internet of Things. Jiangsu's industrial added value ranks first in the country. In the eyes of the new provincial party secretary of the industrial province, the Internet of Things has become an important strategic fulcrum for instigating economic transformation.

Li Qiang said: "Since the reform and opening up, Jiangsu's economy has undergone two major transformations. The first is to develop township and village enterprises and realize the transformation from agriculture to industry. The second is to develop an open economy and achieve internal and external The transformation is now undergoing a third transformation. The Internet of Things is a priority for this transformation and a major strategic choice."

At present, China is in the critical period of economic transformation, and traditional manufacturing industries urgently need to move toward higher levels. Many authoritative experts attending the conference also believe that the opportunity period of the development of the Internet of Things and the period of economic transition are unexpected, which is a rare opportunity. Grasping this opportunity can not only promote the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry, but also lead to the explosive growth of the Internet of Things industry.

The Chinese Academy of Engineering academician You Zheng said that the concept of the Internet of Things was first proposed by the Americans, but it is China that really promotes the development of the Internet of Things. As far as the entire Internet of Things industry is concerned, China is at the forefront of the world. If we can promote the Internet of Things "+" in China, it will help to further consolidate China's existing position in the field of Internet of Things.

The Wuxi Summit of the World Internet of Things has specially opened the “Internet of Things + Made in China 2025” sub-forum. In this regard, Ding Han, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, spoke highly. He said: "The manufacturing is strong, the industry can be strong; the industry is strong, and the country can be strong. The big ship of the Internet of Things should be used to raise the manufacturing level."

After the development of the previous period, China has formed a relatively complete industrial chain including chips and components, equipment, software, system integration, telecom operations, and Internet of Things services. Statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology show that in 2015, the scale of China's Internet of Things industry reached 750 billion yuan, and the compound annual growth rate during the 12th Five-Year Plan period was 25%. The application of Internet of Things is also increasingly widespread, and the market for applications in the fields of transportation, logistics, environmental protection, medical health, security, and power grid has reached tens of billions of yuan.

Most of the participating professionals believe that China has a good development foundation in the field of Internet of Things. The development of the Internet of Things has also ushered in a new round of opportunities and is entering a new stage of development, and this new period of development opportunities and industrial transformation are just right. Overlapping, the explosive growth of the Internet of Things is not far off.

In the future, we need to make up for the short board and safety.

Experts attending the conference introduced that although the scale and application of China's Internet of Things industry are at the forefront of the world, there are also shortcomings.

Qi Hezhen introduced that the main shortcomings of China's Internet of Things development include high-end sensors, industrial bus technology, industrial Internet logo standardization, wireless sensor network frequency coordination issues, Internet of Things management and security, Internet of Things data open use and privacy protection, etc. It involves technical, management and regulatory issues.

Relevant professionals also introduced that foreign analysis believes that the largest market for the Internet of Things is in health care and manufacturing. China's Internet of Things applications in these two areas are also increasing, but the potential is far from being realized. This is related to the fact that all kinds of industrial control sensors in China still rely mainly on foreign countries, and this situation needs to be changed.

In addition, some projects that China is promoting, such as cloud computing, big data, Internet +, China Manufacturing 2025, smart cities, etc., are closely related to the Internet of Things. How to coordinate the advantages of various departments and regions and jointly promote the development of the Internet of Things still has a lot of work to be done.

In addition to supplementing the short board, the participating experts also emphasized that the security of the Internet of Things should be highly valued. Wang Jun, chief engineer of the China Information Security Evaluation Center, said that not long ago, thousands of big websites in the United States were collectively “dropped”. US Department of Homeland Security Secretary J. Johnson later confirmed that the large-scale DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack in the United States was controlled by Trojans in some IoT devices, including surveillance cameras.

"Now a lot of IoT technology has been applied to the precision implant medical. Imagine that if a heart monitoring device implanted in the body is attacked, it may directly endanger the user's life." Wang Jun said.

Wang Jun also introduced that compared with traditional IT, IoT security has two special features. First, sensor equipment, especially high-end sensors, have a low degree of independent research and development and localization, and are more likely to be buried in the back door and attacked. Second, IoT devices are usually small computing devices with small memory. Storage space is generally not enough to install regular IT security devices. Even if security vulnerabilities are discovered, they cannot be solved in a conventional way.

Hehe also said that although the sensor software is simple, it is not equal to nothing. The security of the Internet of Things needs special attention. When there is no need to connect through the public Internet, don't connect to the Internet.
