21ic News Cadence Design Systems today announced that its Tensilica® HiFi Audio/Voice DSP is the first intellectual property (IP) core for the Dolby® DS1 for Dolby Digital PlusTM audio stream to provide a certified decoder. The decoder is now available, targeting mobile devices such as mobile phones and tablets, as well as any entertainment information system with small speakers, such as audio applications on devices such as ultra-thin flat-panel TVs. Dolby DS1 for Digital Plus is optimized for distortion-free audio/speech enhancement and compensates for blurry conversations, extreme volume changes, and defects inherent in small speakers and low-power amplifiers on most mobile devices.
