ZigBee is a close-range, low-power, low-rate, low-cost wireless Sensor network technology, mainly used for short-distance mesh network connections. Zigbee has eight advantages, one by one.

1, low power consumption. In the low-power standby mode, two No. 5 dry batteries can support one node for 6 to 24 months, or even longer. This is the outstanding advantage of ZigBee. In contrast, Bluetooth can work for weeks and WiFi can work for hours.

2, low cost. By greatly simplifying the protocol (less than 1/10 of Bluetooth), the requirements for the communication controller are reduced. With the 8051 8-bit microcontroller, the full-featured master node requires 32KB of code, and the sub-function node has as little as 4KB of code. And ZigBee is free of agreement patent fees. The price per chip is about $2.

3. Low rate. ZigBee operates at 20-250 kbps and provides raw data throughput rates of 250 kbps (2.4 GHz), 40 kbps (915 MHz), and 20 kbps (868 MHz), respectively, to meet the needs of low-speed data transmission applications.

4, close range. The transmission range is generally between 10 and 100 m. After increasing the transmission power, it can also be increased to 1 to 3 km. This refers to the distance between adjacent nodes. If the relay is used by routing and communication between nodes, the transmission distance will be farther.

5, short delay. ZigBee's response speed is relatively fast, generally only 15ms from sleep to working state, node connection into the network only 30ms, further saving energy. In comparison, Bluetooth requires 3 to 10 seconds and WiFi requires 3 seconds.

6, high capacity. ZigBee can adopt star, patch and mesh network structure (wireless sensor network). One master node manages several child nodes, and at most one master node can manage 254 child nodes. At the same time, the master node can also be managed by the upper layer network node. A large network of up to 65,000 nodes can be formed.

7, high security. ZigBee provides a three-level security model, including no security settings, access control lists (ACLs) to prevent illegal access to data, and symmetric passwords using the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES 128) for flexible security attributes.

8, free license band. Use the Industrial Scientific Medical (ISM) band, 915 MHz (USA), 868 MHz (Europe), 2.4 GHz (global). The spread spectrum and modulation methods of these three frequency bands are also different. In general, Zigbee's biggest advantages in wireless sensor networks are: low power consumption (but only for terminal nodes), flexible networking (with advantages when there are many devices in the network), low cost (relative to Bluetooth and WiFi) Will).
