STEP7 PLC network configuration steps tutorial
Network configuration is essential for setting up communication between devices in a Siemens PLC system. This guide will walk you through the key steps to configure the network properly using STEP7 software.
1. Start by completing the hardware configuration. Once done, navigate to the main screen and click on the "Network" button to begin the setup process.
2. The system will display the network configuration window. From there, click on "VIEW" and select "Catalog" to open the component library.
3. Locate the "PG/PC" option under the "STATION" section. Drag it onto the configuration screen. Double-click the PG/PC icon to open its configuration window. Navigate to the "INTERFACES" tab, click "NEW," and choose the MPI interface from the list. Confirm your selection by clicking "OK."
4. A new MPI configuration window will appear. Set the MPI address to "0" and select "MPI(1)" under the "SUBNET" dropdown. Click "OK" to save these settings.
5. Go to the "Assignment" tab. Select "MPI INTERFACE(1)" and "PC ADAPTER(MPI)" from the options. Click "ASSIGN" and then "OK" to finalize the configuration of the PG/PC.
6. Now, configure the PC STATION. Drag the "PC-STATION" icon into the configuration area. Double-click it to open the PC-STATION configuration window.
7. Under the "PC-STATION" section, locate "CP PROFIBUS\cp5611" and drag it into the first slot of the PC. This will open the CP5611 configuration screen. Select "PROFIBUS (1)" and click "OK." Then, click "SAVE AND COMPILE" to save and compile the configuration.
8. To complete the setup, go to "STATION\Properties" to open the PC STATION Properties window. Navigate to the "CONFIGURATION" page. The middle section shows the folder path and name of the configuration file for the PC STATION. You can use this file to configure the CP5611 network card on your computer.
