邬贺铨: Narrowband Internet of Things and Internet of Vehicles are the two driving forces of the Internet of Things

On October 31, at the 2016 World Summit on the Internet of Things in Wuxi, the Chinese Academy of Engineering academician and former vice president, He Hezhen, delivered a keynote speech entitled “Catch the new opportunities for the development of the Internet of Things and cultivate new functions of the digital economy” and accepted the Xinhuanet. Interview. He said that the sound development of China's Internet of Things has been comprehensively promoted and played an important role in national social governance and production and life. Nowadays, the development of China's Internet of Things has reached a new stage, facing unprecedented opportunities, and there are challenges that cannot be avoided.

The establishment of narrowband Internet of Things standards will bring new prospects

Many people know about broadband, but they don't know narrowband.

If you use the carrier's network to organize a low-power wide-area (LPWA) Internet of Things, you can truly realize a network in the entire city, easy to maintain and manage, and a narrow-band Internet of Things (NB-IOT) emerges.

In the past, the development of the Internet of Things was more difficult. The reason is that there are no more suitable transmission methods for more than 60% of low-rate sensor applications. The wifi and Bluetooth connections are unreliable and the transmission distance is short, the coverage is narrow, and the use of optical fiber and mobile communication is not economical. At the 3GPP conference in Busan, South Korea in June this year, the narrowband Internet of Things standard NB-IoT was approved. It brings four characteristics: First, wide coverage, coverage capacity 100 times better than current mobile communication, strong penetration, can cover the underground garage; second, large connection, a mobile communication cell sector, than traditional mobile The number of terminals supported by communication is 50 times to 100 times; the third is low power consumption, one battery can make the IoT module work for ten years; the fourth is low cost, the chip cost target is reduced to 1 dollar. The industry is stepping up the development of chips, modules and systems in accordance with the new standards. The testing and application based on NB-IOT has also been carried out. It is expected to be commercially available by the end of this year, which will open up a good prospect for wide-area Internet of Things applications.

Internet of Vehicles will be one of the biggest drivers of the Internet of Things

Traffic problems are difficult to avoid in Chinese cities. To solve the problem of traffic congestion, it is necessary to rely on the Internet of Vehicles.

Everyone knows that cars are very advanced products, and there are two hundred sensors in a car. In the past, the car sensor was only linked with the interior of the car. In the future, we hope that the sensor of the car can communicate with the outside, the road, and the surrounding cars, and can achieve early warning. Then, we can greatly improve our traffic.

The Internet of Vehicles will be one of the biggest drivers of the Internet of Things. The industry predicts that the global vehicle network is expected to exceed 100 billion euros in 2020, and China will account for one-third.
