ON Semiconductor (Nasdaq: ONNN), a leading provider of high-performance silicon solutions for energy-efficient electronics, has launched a new line of components designed to enhance performance in routers, servers, and network equipment. These products are specifically tailored for high-speed interconnect applications such as PCIe (Peripheral Component Interchange Express) in communication systems, including automated test equipment (ATE). The new lineup includes the NB3N1XXK family of differential clock and data fanout buffers, the NCN3411 4-channel and NCN3612B 6-channel differential switches, and the ESD7004 and ESD7008 transient voltage suppressors (TVS).

**Clock and Data**
The NB3N106K, NB3N108K, NB3N111K, and NB3N121K differential fanout clock and data drivers offer 6-, 8-, 10-, or 21-output configurations, making them ideal for systems that need multiple precise, low-phase-noise clock copies. These devices exhibit only 0.1 ps rms phase jitter (integrated over the 12 kHz to 20 MHz band), with a maximum output-to-output skew of 100 ps. This level of performance makes them suitable for PCIe Gen 1, 2, and 3 applications. The inputs support single-ended or differential LVPECL, LVDS, and HCSL signals, offering system designers flexibility when interfacing with various signaling standards. Additionally, the NB3N3002 and NB3N5573 PCIe clock synthesizers can be used to build a complete clock tree, providing a reliable source for the NB3N1XXK fanout buffers.

**Switches**
The NCN3411 and NCN3612B differential switches are optimized for PCIe 3.0 applications, supporting data rates up to 8 Gbps. These devices feature low supply currents—200 μA for the NCN3411 and 250 μA for the NCN3612B—which help reduce power consumption and heat generation. The NCN3411 is a Single-Pole Double-Throw (SPDT) switch with four differential channels, capable of handling two PCIe lanes and managing two PCIe slots with a single controller. The NCN3612B supports both DisplayPort 1.2 and PCIe 3.0, enabling seamless switching between these two data types.

**Protection**
Protecting high-speed data lines from electrostatic discharge (ESD) is crucial for PCIe applications. ON Semiconductor’s ESD7004 and ESD7008 are low-capacitance, low-clamp voltage ESD protection diodes designed for high-speed signal integrity. The ESD7004 offers four channels, while the ESD7008 provides 4-pair (8-wire) protection, making them ideal for PCIe applications. Their flow-through package design simplifies PCB routing by helping maintain consistent impedance and reducing trace-length matching challenges.
David Somo, Vice President of Corporate Marketing at ON Semiconductor, stated: “As a member of the PCI Special Interest Group (PCI-SIG), ON Semiconductor continues to expand its product portfolio to meet the evolving needs of our network and communications customers. Our latest clocks, switches, and protection devices are engineered to support the highest data throughput requirements for PCIe applications.â€
