Founded in 1997, Shenzhen Kona Industrial Co., Ltd. mainly produces LED light sources and lighting fixtures. LED street lamps are one of its main products. At present, the company has installed tens of thousands of LED street lights in cities such as Shenzhen, and participated in a number of Shenzhen “Ten Cities and Ten Thousand Miles†pilot projects, many of which were installed in the name of suppliers.
On August 20th, a group of high-tech LED nets visited the company to understand the impact of “Ten Cities and Ten Thousand Cities†on Shenzhen LED streetlights and their countermeasures, current project progress and technical status of LED streetlight products. Mr. Xu Wei, the chairman of the company, received us. He explained the views on the current industry and led us to visit the production workshop and engineering laboratory.

Optimistic about high-power integrated LED street light
LED street light sources have always been multi-style and integrated. The former is represented by companies such as Qinshang, Bangbeier and Deshida. The latter is represented by companies such as Kona and Concentration. In general, most of them The company has chosen a variety of styles. The advantage of the integrated LED street light is the rectangular spot, the light can cover the entire road evenly. The disadvantage is that the heat dissipation requirement is relatively high. The power of hundreds of watts concentrated on one chip module will bring a lot of heat, especially the early LED lumen efficiency is relatively low. At the time, more electricity was converted into heat, making it a priority for companies that entered the LED streetlight industry early. The advantage of multiple types is that heat dissipation is easy, but the circuit structure is relatively complicated, the light distribution on the road surface is not uniform enough, and the light of multiple chips overlap to form a "ghosting" phenomenon, which is harmful to driving safety.
In this battle for development, Kona is firmly on the side of integration. Xu Wei said: "Our high-power LED lamps (including street lamps) all use integrated LED modules, and multiple models are one of the design detours we have traveled. Multi-particle LED street lights are easy to cause "ghosting", for driving Hazard, or try to use a surface light source."

According to the information of the high-tech LED network reporter, Kona started to produce integrated LED light source, which should be one of the reasons why the company firmly stood in the integrated camp. Xu Wei told us that Kona had been doing integrated light source for almost three years, and then it was forced to start lighting. "Because of the problem, you can't tell whether it is a light source problem, a heat dissipation problem or an assembly problem."
As lumen efficiency increases, heat dissipation is no longer an issue
When visiting the company's workshop, the reporter found that the heat dissipation structure of Kona LED street lights is unique (see Figure 4). Xu Wei introduced us to the characteristics of the heat dissipation structure. Generally, the temperature of the street lamp housing will be higher than the ambient air temperature. Due to the rising of the hot air, ordinary dust will not fall on the heat sink. Even if it is a little dusty, the groove of the heat sink will guide the water to flow down when it rains, so the dust on the heat sink will be washed away. The entire outer casing of the street lamp is made of anti-static paint to avoid static electricity.

Xu Wei believes that the current LED street lamp cooling technology is not a big problem. "The higher the LED tile lumen efficiency, the less heat there is. The current cooling system is enough to cope with the current lumen efficiency. Later, as the lumen efficiency increases, the heat dissipation capability will It has become more than enough."
The current domestic LED street light quality is generally stable.
Now there is a saying on the Internet that the Ministry of Science and Technology's "Ten Cities and Ten Thousand Cities" is suspected of contributing to the LED industry. Among them, an article published in the "China Sankei Shimbun" titled "Policy "Development of Seedlings and Encourage the Absence of the LED Industry", pointed out that many companies "the quality of products is uneven, they simply cannot afford the 'Ten Cities and Ten Thousands'" The burden." The reporter asked Xu Wei's opinion. He believes that the overall quality of domestic LED street lamps is stable. He argued that some people think that LED street lights are not currently suitable for the main roads. "The 150W street lamps we produced have been used on the main roads."
"With a hand workshop, you can do LED street lights. As long as you can afford parts, the quality is hard to say. If the Shenzhen government requires enterprises to do government projects, the registered capital of the company should reach 20 million or the sales should exceed 100 million. He said.
For the quality problem of Kona LED street light, he gave us some data, Kona LED street light 15000 hours of light decay is 8%, "50,000 hours of light decay will not exceed 30%." Life is related to the chip, packaging process, and cooling system, he stressed.

“We have our LED streetlight pilot project at Futian Bus Station. You can check it out. We are the manufacturer and not the engineering contractor. Our earliest installed streetlights were in August last year, and there have been no problems until now. “Our street lamps have done a lot of third-party certifications, such as CQC, CE EMC LVD, etc., and have won many honors, we have to let customers feel comfortable using our products,†he added.
Realize the replacement of traditional lighting fixtures with LED light sources
"LED lighting is not a simple replacement. This is not our development direction. The road we are going to take is to replace traditional lighting with LED lighting. Color diversity is one of the characteristics of LED lighting. We have a company in Shanghai called Kelinna. It is specifically for color applications such as landscape lighting," said Xu Wei. He believes that the principle of LED street lamp design is "there is less heat dissipation, installation and maintenance must be simple, and the light distribution curve should be good."
Some people in the industry believe that the current luminous efficiency of compact fluorescent tubes is similar to that of LEDs, and LED lighting does not have the advantage of energy saving. Xu Wei does not agree with this point of view. He believes that LED lamps have directionality and high utilization rate, while fluorescent tubes are 360-degree illumination, and a considerable part of the light is wasted. According to effective illumination, the luminous efficiency of LEDs is much higher. .
LED street light market will grow in multiples in the next three years
Since the Ministry of Science and Technology launched the “Ten Cities and Ten Thousand Cities†demonstration project at the beginning of the year, various localities have started pilot projects, but there are not many cities that are really installed on a large scale. Some people think that the “Ten Cities and Ten Thousand Cities†promotion is difficult, but the thunder and rain are small.
