Polymer capacitors are a type of surface-mount device (SMD) laminated aluminum electrolytic capacitor that use a high-conductivity polymer as the cathode material. Compared to traditional liquid-electrolyte aluminum capacitors and solid tantalum capacitors, polymer capacitors offer better electrical performance. They operate within their rated voltage range without the need for voltage reduction, and they have an extremely low equivalent series resistance (ESR). This allows them to handle higher ripple currents and reduce ripple voltage effectively. At high frequencies, these capacitors behave almost ideally, maintaining stable capacitance even when frequency changes occur.

These components are widely used in various applications such as bypass decoupling and energy storage filters on motherboards (for laptops, flat-panel displays, and digital switches), switching power supplies, DC/DC converters, high-frequency noise suppression circuits, and portable electronic devices. Their reliability and performance make them a preferred choice in modern electronics.

Globally, only a few manufacturers like Panasonic, Rubycon, and Jie Mei produce this type of polymer capacitor. Currently, Guoguang is one of the few companies that offer PA-CAP polymer laminated aluminum electrolytic capacitors. With their unique combination of high performance and stability, polymer capacitors are becoming increasingly popular in advanced electronic designs.
