Domestic outdoor LED market will reach 15 billion

Since the beginning of 2013, the bidding amount for LED street lamps in Guangdong has increased significantly, and the number of tenders in the first quarter has even exceeded the sum of last year. In this context, a large number of powerful listed companies competed for bids and successfully divided the market cake.

According to industry estimates, LED outdoor lighting will become the fastest growing segment of LED lighting in the next three years. In 2015, outdoor LED lighting market in China will be close to 15 billion yuan.

The amount of tenders in Guangdong in the first quarter was staggering. In May last year, Guangdong Province issued the "Guangdong Province Implementation Plan for the Promotion of the Use of LED Lighting Products." It requires that all new construction projects in the public lighting area of ​​the province use LED lights from the date of implementation of the plan. There are non-LED lighting products that are used, and they must be completed in batches before the end of 2013. After nearly a year of brewing, the plan has entered an accelerated implementation period.

Recently, the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Department announced the tendering program. Last year, the total tenders for street lamps and tunnel lights in Guangdong Province totaled 75,000, and the number of tenders in January-March this year reached 76,000. This also means that the amount of tenders in the first quarter alone has exceeded the total number of the previous year.

In an interview with the media, Guangdong Lighting Association President Quan Jian pointed out that the current number of tenders is only a small part of the popularization policy. With the further implementation of the popularization policy, the amount of follow-up bidding will be even greater. In addition, not only Guangdong is promoting LED lighting, but under the banner of energy-saving and emission-reduction, all local governments have promoted LED lighting as an important policy.

According to Li Xuliang, Chairman of Qinshang Photonics, the number of bids for LED street lamps and tunnel lights by local governments was limited last year. In 2013, the market will enter a concentrated outbreak period.

According to Ye Jingtu, deputy director of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, as of 2012, Guangdong Province has promoted the use of LED street lamps by nearly 800,000 units. It is estimated that more than 1.1 million new LED street lamps will be installed in 2013, which will set off a new wave of promotion and application. .
