First, the energy saving potential of outdoor lighting power is huge
Director He first quoted some data to analyze the current energy consumption of outdoor lighting in China. He pointed out that in 2007, the total power generation in the country was 3,255.9 billion kWh, of which 13%, or 423.3 billion kWh, was used for lighting, and 30% of this was used for outdoor lighting, about 130 billion kWh. Moreover, only urban road lighting (including residential lighting) consumes more than 50% of the electricity used in outdoor lighting. Lamp control and energy-saving technologies such as sodium lamp, metal halide lamp, electrodeless lamp, etc., voltage regulation, voltage limiting, voltage transformation, dimming technology can achieve the purpose of power saving. If you automatically control all kinds of street lights in the middle of the night, there should be no problem to reduce the power consumption by 50%. According to this calculation, it is also possible to save 30% of the road lighting system.
For road lighting, Director He suggested that suitable places should promote the use of solar photovoltaic and LED integrated lighting systems. He believes that solar photovoltaics and LEDs are semiconductor devices, all of which use direct current, low voltage, low current, and do not use inverters and voltage regulating transformer systems. They are the most energy-saving, low-loss, most scientific and reasonable matching combination. If it is used for street lamps, trail lights, garden lights, etc. below 6m, it is not much different from the cost of ordinary circuit wires. The special terrain or location will be cheaper, and there is much to be done in urban and rural integration construction.
Regarding LED street lights, Director He believes that there is a problem worthy of attention. That is, companies across the country are launching LED street lights, and more than 400 companies are said to be in production. Since it has not been scientifically tested and verified, it has not been strictly tested which LED street lamp demonstration road has reached the national "Urban Road Lighting Design Standard", blindly promoted, and the latter is done later. This year, it will be dismantled next year, resulting in blind launch. Orderly competition, quality is uneven, and it is a waste of manpower, financial resources and energy.
