LCD projector features

The advantages of LCD:

First of all, in terms of screen colors, the mainstream LCD projectors are now three-chip machines, using independent LCD panels with red, green, and blue primary colors. This allows the brightness and contrast of each color channel to be individually adjusted, the projection effect is very good, and high fidelity colors can be obtained. In the same grade of DLP projectors, only one DLP can be used, largely determined by the physical properties of the color wheel and the color temperature of the lamp. There is no good adjustment, and only relatively correct colors can be obtained. However, compared with LCD projectors of the same price, there is still a lack of bright colors at the edges of the image area.

The second advantage of the LCD is high light efficiency. LCD projectors have higher ANSI lumen output than DLP projectors with the same wattage light source, and LCDs still dominate in high-brightness competition. In projectors with a weight of about 7 kilograms, LCD projectors are capable of achieving brightness of 3000 ANSI lumens or more.

Disadvantages of LCD:

The obvious disadvantage of LCD projectors is the poor performance of the black levels and the contrast is not very high. The blackness of the LCD projector looks always grey, and the shadows appear dim and lacking in detail. This is not very suitable for playing movies like movies, and the difference between text and DLP projectors is not great.

The second drawback is that the LCD projector can see the pixel structure. The viewer seems to be watching the screen through the pane. The SVGA (800 x 600) format LCD projector can clearly see the pixel grid regardless of the size of the screen image, unless a higher resolution product is used.

Now that the LCD has started to use the Microlens Array (MLA), it can increase the transmission efficiency of the XGA format LCD panel, soften the pixel grid, make the pixel grid subtle and invisible, and have no effect on the sharpness of the image. It can make the LCD's pixel structure feel almost like that of a DLP projector, but it's still a bit of a gap.
