Taiwan plans to switch to LED lighting in the end of 2012 to eliminate incandescent lamps

The Energy Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan recently said that Taiwan will completely eliminate incandescent light bulbs and switch to Led Lighting. It is expected that the incandescent lamps will be discontinued in 2010, and the use of incandescent bulbs will be completely stopped by the end of 2012.

The first step will be to first disable the incandescent lamp from the public sector, replace the incandescent lamp when replacing the lighting device, and switch to a power-saving bulb or LED lamp. Home and private industries, including restaurants, hospitals, hypermarkets, etc., have also been banned. It is expected that the incandescent lamps will be completely eliminated in the first quarter of 2009 and LED lights will be used instead. The use of incandescent bulbs will be completely discontinued by the end of 2012.

Energy Secretary Ye Huiqing announced the comprehensive elimination of the incandescent bulb policy at the "2007 Executive Technology Strategy Conference of the Executive Yuan" on the 19th. He said, "If you replace it in the future and switch to led lighting, you will be able to save 41% of energy every year."

In 2012, LED lighting will be mass-produced. Taiwan's traffic signs will be gradually replaced with LED lights in 2008. Buildings, landscape lighting and non-main road mercury street lamps will be fully replaced with LED lights by the end of 2025, saving 37.8 per year.
