Wireless charging tasteless? New technology charging radius will reach 4.6 meters

Tencent Digital (Gao Xiang) Wireless charging is a rather entangling technology. It was considered the next trend in consumer electronics several years ago, but it is still a niche technology. Compared to wireless chargers that are not reliable, require precise placement, and are slow to charge, people still prefer USB data cables and chargers.

Of course, some manufacturers are trying to change the dilemma of wireless charging, such as Samsung S6, S7, can support a variety of standards, at least you do not have to buy a specific wireless charger. In addition, standards such as Qi are also increasing the charging power, 15W products have also begun to spread to solve the problem of charging speed. On the other hand, although wireless charging technology is worth paying attention to, it needs to wait for the arrival of an evolutionary moment to be popularized.

The big problem of wireless charging

One of the wireless charging chaos is the different standards, Qi, PMA, A3WP and a series of hard-to-remember naming standards, it is confusing. You do not know or care about which camp your mobile phone is in because it is not necessity.

With the integration of the industry, PMA and A4WP have merged into the new AirFuel (Rezence Standard), forming a strong relationship with Qi. As mentioned earlier, Samsung S6 and other models support all wireless charging standards, and it seems that the previous confusion has become better. However, Qualcomm also participated in the launch of WiPower, but it is based on Rezence, but only to improve the metal barrier properties of wireless charging, power, etc.

However, the fact is that manufacturers are still clamoring for standards and performance, but users still don’t catch a cold, because in essence wireless charging using coils or resonances still has disadvantages such as short transmission distances and harsh placement. The most important thing is that manufacturers are not equipped with wireless chargers. Who wants to pay more for it?

Family and public development

It seems that it is not realistic for most people to spend extra money on wireless chargers, but some good ideas have already emerged and people are interested.

First of all, it is naturally IKEA's wireless charging home products. A table lamp, a bedside table, integrated wireless charging area, users can charge the phone on the bed before charging, which is very user-friendly, it is in line with people's imagination. However, iPhones lacking Qi's charging function still need to use mobile phone casings, which is an obstacle to use. In addition, IKEA uses the old standard of Qi and only provides 5W of power, which essentially does not change the situation of wireless charging.

Another good phenomenon is that the Starbucks coffee shop in some countries and regions has designed the PMA standard wireless charging table so that users can more easily recharge in the coffee shop. It is also a marketing strategy to effectively attract customers; the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and other places The McDonald's and Ibis hotels have designed Qi charging stations for free use by people. If more and more business environments begin to be equipped with wireless charging stations, it will affect the mobile phone manufacturers to more actively put in the function, but this process is still more difficult.

New technology will completely change the wireless charging experience

With respect to wireless charging, new technologies are also being actively developed. At present, the industry is more optimistic about RF signal charging technology. In simple terms, setting up an RF signal sending station in one area, then a certain range of compatible devices can automatically receive signals and act as closer to true “wireless charging” than coil induction technology. At present, products including companies such as Energous have been able to provide launch distances of about 4.6 meters radius, with the ultimate goal being farther.

Of course, new technologies always require long process testing, perfection, and commercialization. Wireless charging is still not a necessity. However, new technologies make it full of the future. What we need to do is pay attention and wait.
