Detailed analysis of LED lighting and color temperature technology

Color temperature does mean temperature, but it is used to characterize color. I felt quite strange when I first met, but I thought about it. In fact, we have already deeply understood this phenomenon in our daily life. For example, the words we usually use are hot, white, red and purple. A vivid interpretation of a phenomenon. Xi said that "the iron still needs to be hard." The process of hitting iron is probably the most vivid example of black body radiation and color temperature.

When it comes to color temperature, you have to start with the spectrum. It is well known that light is an electromagnetic radiation, which is usually seen by the human eye in the 380-780 nm portion, as shown in the figure below.

The white light we usually see is a mixture of various shades of light. With our experience in physics when we were young, we know that prisms can be used to break down sunlight into various shades, as shown below.

This red orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple respectively correspond to the different bands of 780-380nm where the light we see is located.

In 1927, the 7th International Metrology Conference used the thermodynamic temperature scale as the basic temperature scale. The unit Kelvin, symbol K, was named after the inventor Kelvin Baron William Thomson.

Pulling away, come back and say color temperature. Color temperature, which is a temperature value measured by the thermodynamic temperature scale K, but it is a value used to characterize the color.

The color temperature of the light source is confirmed by comparing its color with the temperature of the black body radiator in theory. When the black body is gradually heated to heat up, it will start to heat up, then glow, from hot red to white heat, to flame blue, gradually changing, this process is like hitting iron. Each color change in the middle corresponds to a temperature value. When the color of the light source is the same as that of a black body, we call this temperature the color temperature of the light source (correlated color temperature).

A thousand words are not as good as a picture. The black body is heated from 2000K to 13000K, and the change in light color is like this:

The natural and artificial light that we feel in our daily lives, the color temperature is probably like this:
