Low-Power Audio Codec (Conexant)

Conexant Systems has introduced a new high-efficiency stereo audio codec for consumer electronics including mobile network devices, smartbooks and webbooks. The low-power CX20745 codec is the first in a family of high-performance audio solutions for small, portable mobile devices that are sampling to customers. In order to reduce engineering costs and shorten the product development cycle, a complete evaluation kit (EVK) based on the new audio codec is also available.

Phil Pompa, senior vice president of product marketing at Conexant Systems, said: "Our new solution integrates key technology features that significantly improve the audio quality of mobile devices and meet the low power requirements of battery-powered consumer electronics. We will continue to leverage our extensive expertise in audio and voice DSP algorithms to further improve the listening experience for users around the world."

The CX20745 integrates a high-efficiency stereo Class D amplifier that can drive up to two watts per channel for improved audio performance. The codec supports headphone input/output with an open call terminal (Open Mobile Terminal Platform, OMTP) with command detection and digital and analog microphone inputs. OMTP is an industry forum organization that promotes the technical requirements of mobile terminals to ensure consistent and secure implementation.

The new audio solution uses a CPU-friendly hardware equalizer to maximize application performance. Other features include dynamic range and microphone automatic gain control to achieve "far-field" pickup by expanding the sound capture radius. The CX20745 also features high-performance multi-bit digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital converters and supports differential internal signals for improved audio fidelity. To further improve performance, the codec uses direct current cancellation, eliminating the "beep" noise that is often caused by switching states (such as turning a device on or off). The CX20745 supports an industrial temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees.

Conexant's innovative audio portfolio includes highly integrated speakers-on-a-chip solutions and high-definition audio codecs for PC peripheral audio systems, speakers, laptop docking systems, headsets, A wide range of products such as VoIP speakers and walkie-talkies. The company also offers HD audio solutions for personal computers.

Pricing, supply and packaging
The CX20745 will be available in volume in February 2011. The audio codec is priced at $1.40 each in 10,000-piece quantities, and the evaluation kit for qualified customers is $199.

The CX20745 is available in a 48-pin Quad Dlat No-lead (QFN) package that reduces lead inductance, thinness, small footprint and low weight. The QFN package is manufactured from environmentally friendly RoHS and green materials.

The Splicing Fitting is primarily used to join kinds of bare conductors and lightning conductors. It bears the same electric load as conductors. Most splicing fittings bear all the tension of conductors, ground wires and lightning conductors. According to the tensile condition, splicing fittings include force-bearing type and non-force-bearing type.

Splicing fittings are generally divided into compression type and preformed type. And the compression type includes hydraulic compression, explosive compression and compression with pliers. Generally, malleable cast iron, steel, and aluminum alloy are used as it's materials. All the ferrous metal should be hot-dip galvanized.
