On March 9, 2010, China Telecom's OSTAR Compact LED was specially developed for automotive headlamp applications. This high-power LED is designed for use with a light guide-based daytime running light (DRL). Its compact size and ability to drive high current loads make it ideal for existing and new headlight designs. The OSTAR Compact has a traction power of 5 W, an operating current of 1.4 A and a typical brightness of 300 lm, while its 2 mm2 chip provides high illumination.
