Not only the noise problem from the panel is serious, but also the voltage noise of the charger becomes more sensitive, which affects the touch performance.

In order to improve the anti-noise ability of On-cell and In-cell touch modules, Cypress will mass-produce its latest TrueTouch Gen5 touch IC in the second quarter of this year, allowing mobile phone brand manufacturers to take into account the thin and light design and excellent Touch experience. Erickson emphasized that in addition to using a new analog front end (AFE), 32-bit Cortex-M series processor cores, the new solution strengthens the LCD screen scanning speed and noise protection capabilities; Adapt to the frequency hopping (AFH) function, it can lock the noise frequency range of 1 ~ 500kHz charger, providing excellent power noise immunity.

Coincidentally, another big touch IC manufacturer, Synopsys International, has also locked in the demand for light and thin, high-performance design of high-end phablets (Phablet), and announced the latest touch IC solution-ClearPad 3400 at MWC this year. To further improve the scanning speed and information update rate of touch ICs and other specifications, and assist mobile phone manufacturers to successfully introduce thin touch solutions.

According to Synopsys International, after re-improving the analog front-end design, this product not only shortens the touch response delay time, but also greatly improves the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), strengthens the anti-LCD and charger noise functions; and also increases the size of the touch panel The support has been increased to 6 inches, which will help the tablet to enhance the touch experience.

In addition to the strong demand for the introduction of thin touch solutions for tablet phones, as Windows 8 drives the trend of ultra-thin notebooks (Ultrabooks) and all-in-one (AIO) personal computers to increase touch functionality, the related medium and large size single glass (OGS), TOL (Touch on Lens) touch technology has also received considerable industry attention. In this regard, Erickson revealed that Cypress has planned to upgrade its TrueTouch Gen4_L tablet device touch solution at an appropriate time to support larger screen sizes.
