Brief Description of China's First International Standard for Internet of Things

On December 29, the National Standards Commission and the Ministry of Transport held a press conference for the "ISO18186:2011 Container-RFID Freight Tag System" (hereinafter referred to as ISO18186) international standard. Chen Gang, director of the National Standards Committee and Gao Hongfeng, vice minister of the Ministry of Transport attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Gao Hongfeng pointed out that 90% of the world's containers are manufactured by China, and China’s container throughput has been ranked first in the world since 2003. This standard will play an important role in China’s national economy and foreign trade. It is necessary to raise the level of implementation of this standard, expand the scope of application, and extend the scope of implementation of this standard to areas such as land transportation.

According to reports, the International Organization for Standardization released the ISO18186 international standard on November 30th. Ten years ago, the head of the ISO18186 international standard project team and Bao Qifan, an ordinary port worker at the time, proposed the idea of ​​using RFID technology to monitor the safety of container logistics.
