(1) Identification from the appearance of the luminaire

Lamp marking

When purchasing a luminaire, first check the markings on the luminaire, such as the trademark, model, rated voltage, rated power, etc., to determine whether it meets its own requirements. Marking safety is a basic requirement in the safety of luminaires. The rated power is especially important. For example, a 40 watt luminaire is designed. Due to the unmarked power rating, the user is likely to install a 60 watt or 100 watt bulb, which may cause deformation of the casing. Insulation damage, even electric shock, may cause fire.

In addition, the standard stipulates that the minimum cross-section of the wires used on the luminaire is 0.5 square millimeters. Some manufacturers reduce the cost, and the cross-sectional area of ​​the wires used on the products is less than 0.5 square millimeters. This may cause the wires to burn and the insulation layer burns out. A short circuit occurs and is dangerous. When you buy, you can look at the mark printed on the insulation outside the wire on the lamp.

(2) Identification from protection against electric shock

Pay attention to the protection against electric shock. After the lamp is energized, people must not touch the live parts, and there is no danger of electric shock. If you buy incandescent lamps (such as chandeliers, wall lamps), install the bulbs in the absence of power, such as the use of small fingers to touch the live parts, the anti-shock performance is basically consistent.

The lighting protection performance of the lamps does not meet the standard. Generally, the lamp holders that do not meet the requirements or the live parts of the lamps are not covered with protective measures such as electric shock protection.

(3) Identification from the structure of the luminaire

The metal tube entrance and exit of the wire shall be free of sharp edges to avoid cutting the wire and causing the metal parts to be charged, posing a risk of electric shock.

Portable lamps such as table lamps and floor lamps should have a wire fixing bracket at the entrance of the power cable. The function of the lamp is to prevent the heating element from being touched when the power cable is pushed back. The insulation of the wire is caused by the overheating of the wire. The exposed wire is in contact with the metal casing, and the casing is charged. Causes electric shock.

(4) Identification from accessories used on the luminaire

If an electronic ballast is used in the luminaire, a luminaire equipped with an abnormally protected electronic ballast should be purchased. The so-called abnormal protection refers to the protection given when an abnormal state occurs in the fluorescent line, so that the electronic ballast The device still works.

For the luminaires, use the magnetic ballast. Look at the mark on the ballast. Try to use a type with a higher Tw value (such as Tw130). Especially when the heat dissipation condition of the lamp is poor, you should pay attention to this. Tw is the rated maximum operating temperature of the ballast coil at which the ballast can operate for 10 years.
