John Peeler, chief executive of Veeco, a major LED equipment company, said that it plans to increase shipments of Q2 in 2010 to 70 MOCVD equipment or above. In 2010, Q4 equipment shipments will be seen at 120 units, much higher than the current 45 units. At the same time, Veeco announced its 2010 Q1 earnings report, with revenues of US$163.2 million, a 12% increase in the quarter and an annual increase of 120%, setting a new high in the company's history.
Veeco said that the manufacturers that order MOCVD machines are Taiwan New Century Optoelectronics, China Sanan Optoelectronics, Seoul Seoul Semiconductor Subsidiary Seoul Optodevice. In the Q1 2010, New Century Optoelectronics ordered several TurboDisc K465i GaN MOCVD machines from the company to expand the production capacity of high-brightness LEDs. Sanan ordered 40 major MOCVD production equipments from Veeco to 40, and ensured that both parties agreed to deliver the products within 2010. At present, Veeco has provided multiple equipment order quotations to a large number of customers, and several important Asian customers have placed high orders in April 2010.
