Three alternative products to see smart home differentiation
Recently, Gigaom inventoryed three unique smart home startups.
Like smart bracelets, smart homes are now embarking on the homogenization of products. Smart homes will talk about smart light bulbs, switches, remote controls, and routing. This is obviously a follow-up to the lively approach. The truly innovative products should be breaking the application of technology, creating new possibilities. From the following three overseas cases, we can see some differences in thinking.
At the O'Reilly Solid conference last week, the author saw a number of recent innovations in the smart home area, including the previously reported Birdi air quality monitoring system and the Zuli Bluetooth smart socket.
First, Xandem detects user location via WiFi
However, the author also encountered three start-up companies that are worthy of attention. The first is a company called Xandem, who is currently producing a presence sensor that uses wireless signals to detect the location of users in the room.
This product is currently on the market as a more accurate motion detector, but the company's chief technology officer DustinMass described to the author more applications in the future, such as the presence of people who do not carry or wear Bluetooth devices in the house. Mass said that interference from other networks is one of the challenges due to the device working over Wi-Fi. However, I like this application because it can help solve the problem of detecting children or other people who are not carrying smart phones or Bluetooth devices at home.
Second, Playtabase bracelet and socket collision
Playtabase's product is a wristband and receiver system that users can plug into a desk lamp, television or other home appliances, and use the wristband as a gesture controller. Just by playing in the air, you can control the light switch, the volume level, and even the playback and pause of video content. The system is called Reemo, and the wristband is designed as a home control device and a mouse on the wrist. Reemo is expected to be available this fall and is priced at $200, including a bracelet and three receivers.
Third, WallyHome exists in the invisible
SNUPI Technologies presented a set of six sensor and control hubs, called WallyHome, for $299. What makes this system unique is that its sensors do not rely on Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and can use a single button battery for up to 10 years of battery life. The user only needs to place the sensor next to the home appliance or other problem-prone areas. Wally will detect moisture, temperature and humidity changes.

Internally Installed Digital LED Strip puts main part of the driver IC is integrated into the commonly used 5050RGB patch lamp bead.
The advantage is that the circuit is integrated into the led bead, the external circuit can be omitted, and  reduce the circuit design,

reducing external components, reducing the volume and  reducing the production cost.

Control circuit and RGB  chip is integrated into a 5050 packaged component to form a complete external control pixel.

The three primary colors of each pixel can achieve 256 levels of brightness display, serial cascade interface,

and can receive and decode data through signal lines. The color of the light is highly consistent and cost-effective.

Generally used for LED full color luminous word string, LED full color module, LED full color soft light strip hard light strip,

Led Pixel Screen, LED shaped screen and so on. It is one of the most common ribbons on the market.
