Taiwan is still optimistic about the backlight and lighting LED market in 2011

Under the recovery of the economy, the overall output value of Taiwan's LED and lighting applications will reach NT$150 billion (approximately RMB33.36 billion) in 2010, which is expected to continue in 2012 as the LED application market continues to expand. At least 30% annual growth rate will reach NT$270 billion (about RMB 60 billion), as shown in Figure 1.
In recent years, under the rapid improvement of technology in Taiwan, LED has stepped into mobile phone, Netbook, NB to TV and other backlight applications, and the lighting is also close to the international LED leading manufacturers such as Europe, America and Japan. The quality and quantity of product sales have increased significantly.
Taiwan's LED industry technology development is quite good, coupled with the price advantage, to break into the brand big supply chain with outstanding product cost performance, and successfully set up two high-growth application markets of display backlight and lighting.
2011 Taiwan LED epitaxial production capacity ranks worldwide
In 2010, Taiwan's upstream LED chip and die continued to expand, and it remained in the global market. Its production capacity ranked first. The products consisted of blue-green InGaN LED and quaternary AlGaInP LED products, and others. Some are traditional binary, ternary, infrared, ultraviolet and other LED products, and their product classifications are shown in Figure 2.

The quaternary AlGaInP LED is ranked 30%, but Taiwan is still the most important production area for the global Quaternary AlGaInP LED, and its global market share continues to remain above 60%. Domestic manufacturers are mainly Jingdian, Huashang and Guanglei. Since most of the quaternary products are used in outdoor billboards, vehicles, consumer electronics, special lighting, etc., these application areas have shown signs of warming up with the recovery of the economy, but the demand for blue-green light is hot, and the overall proportion is relatively high. It is in a downward trend.
Taiwan's LED epitaxial chip and die industry leader, Jingyuan Optoelectronics, benefited from the growth of medium and large-sized LCD light sources and lighting applications. In 2010, nearly 60% of the explosive growth, once again reelected Taiwan's largest epitaxial manufacturer, As shown in Figure 3. Due to the rapid rise of the LED industry status in countries such as South Korea and China, the company has invested in Taigu, Nanyaguang, Guangguang and other manufacturers in the past two years to integrate the industry level to strengthen the Group's competitiveness. Since LEDs have quickly penetrated from small and medium-sized panels to notebook-type, TV-size LCD panel backlights, Taiwanese packaging factories have successively entered the supply chain of LCD TV brands such as Samsung and LG through direct or indirect pipelines, resulting in high operational growth. .
In the long-awaited lighting market, although the past ten-year-old business opportunities of China's top ten cities have gradually cooled down, Japan's LED bulb market is under the environmental factors of rapid product price decline and high electricity prices. It took the lead in the Japanese market to shine, and also let several Taiwan LED lighting companies win the major lighting brand factories on behalf of business machines.
Driven by the two high-growth application areas of display backlight and LED lighting, Taiwan's LED packaging and module production value climbed to the third quarter, hitting a record high, Taiwan's LED packaging and module output in 2010 NT$85 billion.
There are many types of downstream LED package products. The manufacturers mainly produce surface-mounted LEDs (SMD LEDs), traditional Lamps, Infrared Components, LED Displays, etc. The product classification accounts for Figure 4.
Among the largest LED package products, the largest products are SMD package products, accounting for about 70%, including hand-held products that emphasize the thinness of the package, Netbook, NB, and other medium and large-size LCD backlights. In addition to the lateral illuminating LEDs, there are also high-power LEDs such as lighting, which are particularly emphasized in terms of heat dissipation capability, and the like. Since liquid crystal display backlights and lighting applications are regarded by manufacturers as high-growth applications, this type of packaging has also become a product that has been greatly expanded by various manufacturers. In the second place, IR component products account for about 16%.
According to the ranking of downstream LED packaging and module manufacturers in 2010, as shown in Figure 5, Yiguang Electronics ranks first, accounting for Taiwan's total output value.
About 23%, while Lite-On Electronics accounted for about 19%, ranking third as Jintai Electronics is a non-listed company, and its total revenue estimate is about 12%.
Under the strong support of AUO Group, the revenues of its affiliated companies, Ronda and Powerlink, have tripled or quadrupled, ranking fourth and seventh respectively. In the first quarter of 2010, Ronda merged the investment and packaging capacity of Kaiding Technology, and also narrowed the distance with the leaders of Everlight and Lite-On Group.
In 2010, LED manufacturers in Taiwan successively cut into medium and large-sized backlights and lighting applications, and internally strengthened their industrial competitiveness through horizontal integration and vertical investment. They cooperated with related application customers to increase their investment in China and actively cut into various brand factories. The supply chain and at the same time moderately diversify the customer base and stabilize the future product estuary.
In 2011, it will still be the two major applications of display backlight and lighting to lead the LED market. When LED manufacturers have successively crossed the threshold of technology and price, they can make great strides on behalf of the whole industry, but the competition is bound to become more intense.
